Hillside Golf Club
Southport
Commercial
Phase 1 – the original club house was built as a residence that has subsequently been extended many times with flat roof additions providing the accommodation required for one of the finest golf clubs in the UK. The original building had not been upgraded to accommodate the function room that is now located at first floor level causing excessive deflection to the floor. This phase was to introduce significant steel support to the floor and refurbish the ground floor members lounge using the new beams to form a coffered ceiling.
Phase 2 – this provided a new external terrace at first floor to take advantage of the south facing aspect overlooking the18th green. The 20th / junior lounge below was refurbished as part of this phase.
Phase 3 – a major refurbishment at first floor level comprising the construction of a new commercial kitchen, conversion of the existing kitchen to extend the function room to provide space capable of taking 200 covers for formal dining, a new first floor bar and re-ordered back of house areas and boardroom. Finally a new pitched roof was installed over the entire first floor to harmonise the buildings’ appearance as a single entity rather than a series of disparate additions. A lightweight aluminium frame system together with metal tile system was used to reduce weight on the existing structure.
